An atmosphere of shock has gripped the village of Ankifeou, located in the Chadian province of Salamat. A wild buffalo, emerging from the surrounding wilderness, violently attacked the inhabitants and livestock. The human toll stands at five people injured during this brutal incursion. In addition to the bodily harm caused to the villagers, the animal also attacked a donkey, testifying to the beast's unusual aggression. Faced with this imminent danger and to protect the safety of the local community, the residents of Ankifeou organized themselves to neutralize the threat. The buffalo was thus killed by the residents at the end of this confrontation. While the incident is now closed with the animal being put down, this event highlights the recurring tension between wildlife and rural populations in this area of Chad. At this stage, the exact circumstances that drove the animal to approach so close to the dwellings and charge the villagers remain undetermined.
